An antique diamond, peridot, and amethyst floral brooch from circa 1900. The brooch consists of 42 rose and old cut diamonds amounting to 1.04ct approx. The round cut amethyst weighs 0.60ct approx. and the oval cut peridot weighs 0.85ct approx. The diamond set to the top of the brooch weigh an estimated 0.30ct. The brooch measures 38mm long by 24mm wide. We believe that the amethyst and period are later replacements to the original piece. While the piece is unhallmarked we have tested it to be 18ct gold.

Brereton Jewellers was established in 1916 at 108 Capel Street, Dublin. Specialising in both new and antique jewellery the business has grown with the city of Dublin. John's youngest son Jack joined the business in the 1930's. By the early 1970's the third generation of Breretons, Jack's sons John and Liam, joined the company.
Shortly afterwards they opened the company's second store on Chatham Street, Dublin. The third store, opposite the General Post Office (GPO) on Dublin's O'Connell Street, opened in 1986.
Starting in 2003 the fourth generation joined the family business. Paul Brereton joined in 2003 and Derek Brereton started in 2009. Paul graduated as a gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America in 2006. Both of them now works closely with the the third generation in the running of the three unique stores.
