Antique 9ct Gold Pounamu Bar Brooch Pin C.1870. Rich and vibrant elongated piece of natural Pounamu with ornately engraved 9ct gold detailing. Stamped on both gold pieces. Length: 2.25 inches. width: 3/8 inch. Total Item Weight: 5.89 grams. Pounamu by the Maori people would have been crafted in the 1870’s in Dunedin during the gold rush. The pounamu will be from Queenstown. It is highly collectable and is often blessed using special prayers. Greenstone of this quality all belongs to to the South Island Ngtahu tribe and only they can gather and carve it.
