Antique 9ct Yellow Gold Curb Link Padlock Bracelet

by Brereton Jewellers

An antique curb link bracelet made in 9ct yellow gold. This piece is in excellent condition in spite of it’s age. Each of the links is clearly stamped “9 375”, this practice of stamping each link was used over 100 years ago and is a clear indication of the age of the bracelet. The bracelet weighs 20 grams and has a padlock catch with a hidden compartment. The padlock is a later addition to the bracelet.

Brereton Jewellers

Brereton Jewellers was established in 1916 at 108 Capel Street, Dublin. Specialising in both new and antique jewellery the business has grown with the city of Dublin. John's youngest son Jack joined the business in the 1930's. By the early 1970's the third generation of Breretons, Jack's sons John and Liam, joined the company.

Shortly afterwards they opened the company's second store on Chatham Street, Dublin. The third store, opposite the General Post Office (GPO) on Dublin's O'Connell Street, opened in 1986.

Starting in 2003 the fourth generation joined the family business. Paul Brereton joined in 2003 and Derek Brereton started in 2009. Paul graduated as a gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America in 2006. Both of them now works closely with the the third generation in the running of the three unique stores.
