Coral and Diamond Pendant on Pearl Set Chain

This is a fantastic piece of antique jewellery -It is rare to find an antique piece that has everything – A rare gem (coral) original setting, and the original chain. This Victorian-era (circa 1880) coral and diamond pendant is a rare find. The pinkish coral is surrounded by 16 old cut diamonds with a total diamond estimated weight of 1.12ct. The piece is was made in France and has hallmarks indicating it is made from 18ct gold. The chain is a rare thing – a old chain in good condition. It is made with 18ct gold and has seven seed pearls dotted at stations along it’s 16″ length.

Brereton Jewellers

Brereton Jewellers was established in 1916 at 108 Capel Street, Dublin. Specialising in both new and antique jewellery the business has grown with the city of Dublin. John's youngest son Jack joined the business in the 1930's. By the early 1970's the third generation of Breretons, Jack's sons John and Liam, joined the company.

Shortly afterwards they opened the company's second store on Chatham Street, Dublin. The third store, opposite the General Post Office (GPO) on Dublin's O'Connell Street, opened in 1986.

Starting in 2003 the fourth generation joined the family business. Paul Brereton joined in 2003 and Derek Brereton started in 2009. Paul graduated as a gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America in 2006. Both of them now works closely with the the third generation in the running of the three unique stores.
