Exceptional ring by Claës Giertta. Sweden circa 1960. Three central pillars set with a diamond atop, and seven radiating cylinders each also set with a diamond. Finger size O 1/2.
Highly influential as a silversmith, sculptor and designer in Sweden, Claës Giertta (1926-2007) was largely unknown outside Scandinavia.
He trained at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, establishing his own workshop in 1957. Giertta’s jewellery designs are noted for their highly sculptural and textural relief, often employing varying constructions of geometric forms.
