Emerald and Diamond Moi et Toi Platinum Ring

An emerald and diamond “moi et toi” ring from the Art Deco period. The moi et toi ring was made popular in 1790 by Napolean who proposed to Josephine with this stype of ring. The two gems are to said to represent “you and me”. This ring has a square cut emerald and an ascher cut diamond. The ring is inscribed with the weights of the gems; 0.45ct of emerald and 0.33ct of diamond. The ring is also clearly stamped “Plat” which indicates the ring is made with platinum.

Brereton Jewellers

Brereton Jewellers was established in 1916 at 108 Capel Street, Dublin. Specialising in both new and antique jewellery the business has grown with the city of Dublin. John's youngest son Jack joined the business in the 1930's. By the early 1970's the third generation of Breretons, Jack's sons John and Liam, joined the company.

Shortly afterwards they opened the company's second store on Chatham Street, Dublin. The third store, opposite the General Post Office (GPO) on Dublin's O'Connell Street, opened in 1986.

Starting in 2003 the fourth generation joined the family business. Paul Brereton joined in 2003 and Derek Brereton started in 2009. Paul graduated as a gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America in 2006. Both of them now works closely with the the third generation in the running of the three unique stores.
