Extraordinary Hot Air Balloon Ring

Rare is an understatement! This is an incredible piece of history, an 18th century gold, ruby and diamond ring, made in France circa 1782, to commemorate the first ever hot air balloon flight by the Mongolfier brothers at the palace of Versailles on the 17th September 1782. Depicting the two brothers guiding the balloon with guy ropes. Amazing condition, French hallmarks. Only a few of these are known to exist, most of which are in museums
