Ladies 65gms Lapis & 14ct Yellow Gold Watch

by Brereton Jewellers

This vintage Gold and Lapis Lazuli watch is a rare find. The watch doubles as a bracelet – with the watch dial made in the same design as each of the watch links so that it can hide in plain sight.
The design is classic 1960’s with a wood-bark style finish to the metal and the use of a strong coloured gemstone. The watch is run by a manual wind movement which is rare to find in a ladies watch.
The watch was made by a 140 year old German company called Lotos. The lapis lazuli stones are most likely from Afghanistan, where most of the world’s supply of top-quality lapis is found.

Brereton Jewellers

Brereton Jewellers was established in 1916 at 108 Capel Street, Dublin. Specialising in both new and antique jewellery the business has grown with the city of Dublin. John's youngest son Jack joined the business in the 1930's. By the early 1970's the third generation of Breretons, Jack's sons John and Liam, joined the company.

Shortly afterwards they opened the company's second store on Chatham Street, Dublin. The third store, opposite the General Post Office (GPO) on Dublin's O'Connell Street, opened in 1986.

Starting in 2003 the fourth generation joined the family business. Paul Brereton joined in 2003 and Derek Brereton started in 2009. Paul graduated as a gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America in 2006. Both of them now works closely with the the third generation in the running of the three unique stores.
