Antique Portrait Miniature original bevelled crystal, Swiss, C.1800, attrib Anton Graff, depicting a boy with pull toy and orange tree, foliate gold (tests as 18K)frame (minor solder at reverse), fitted box. Anton Graff (1736-1813) was among the most talented portrait artists of Goethe’s era. He was known for his sensitive portraits of the nobility and wealthy bourgeois and is considered to have been a forerunner of realism. Measures: 1.75 x 1.50 inches. Ref: Skinners Fine Jewelry 2007 sold US$2350.
