Vintage 1972 Bueche Girod 18ct Gold Watch Ring

by Brereton Jewellers

A rare and unusual watch-ring by Bueche Girod. The watch-ring was made in 1972 and has the clear design and finish of a piece from this period. It is made from 18ct gold with a total weight of 19 grams. The watch is powered by a manual wind “B.J. Swiss” 70 calibre movement which we recently serviced and is keeping excellent time. The dial is also made with 18ct gold and is finished in the same bark design as the rest of the piece. Bueche Girod started manufacturing watches in Switzerland in 1947. They were a husband and wife team from which the company name was created – Vital Bueche and Edwige Girod. They ceased manufacturing in the 1980’s.

Brereton Jewellers

Brereton Jewellers was established in 1916 at 108 Capel Street, Dublin. Specialising in both new and antique jewellery the business has grown with the city of Dublin. John's youngest son Jack joined the business in the 1930's. By the early 1970's the third generation of Breretons, Jack's sons John and Liam, joined the company.

Shortly afterwards they opened the company's second store on Chatham Street, Dublin. The third store, opposite the General Post Office (GPO) on Dublin's O'Connell Street, opened in 1986.

Starting in 2003 the fourth generation joined the family business. Paul Brereton joined in 2003 and Derek Brereton started in 2009. Paul graduated as a gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America in 2006. Both of them now works closely with the the third generation in the running of the three unique stores.
